To celebrate our five year anniversary, Spencer and I got the chance to drive to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We started at the crystal coast in Morehead City, NC and stayed in several places including Ocracoke and Kitty Hawk. We took a ferry to get to and from Ocracoke, then drove all the way to the other end of the OBX. We saw wild ponies at Corolla, and stopped at many charming restaurants along the way.Â
Highlights:Â
1) Staying at the "Castle on Silver Lake" bed and breakfast and exploring Ocracoke Island on bikesÂ
2) Driving to Corolla beach for a day trip from where we were staying in Kill Devil Hills, NC. It was an adventure driving on the beach, seeing the wild ponies there, staying for a while, then driving out on a narrow strip of beach when the tide was higher.Â
3) Stopping at Jockey's Ridge state park, walking across massive sand dunes at watching people learn to hang glide.Â
4) Dinner in Manteo, NC. We had amazing pimento cheese burgers at a place called "Poor Richard's" and explored the town. This was really one of the most charming places, free from the noise  of nearby Kitty Hawk.Â
